2024 Spring Fling Event – March 30th @ Imperial Point Drive Park

SPRING FLING - Another very successful Imperial Point Civic Association Event!

We moved the venue of our Annual Spring Fling Event this year to the Imperial Point Main Entrance Park, located just south of NE 62nd Street off US1 (Federal Highway). We have always held this event at Dottie Mancini Park, located behind Imperial Point Hospital, for years. The change of venue ended up providing us a huge success! Everyone had a great time and the young Easter Egg hunters were thrilled! Some of the older ones were too!

The main entrance to Imperial Point is actually a city Park, which many do not know. The city went out of their way to support our Event! Both city Parks & Recreation Department and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department supported the event to make this a success, as well as a safe event for the young Hunters. The Police provided barriers along the US1 side, as well as Officers and patrol vehicles; sealing off Imperial Point Drive, eliminating all traffic for the duration of the event.

The Imperial point volunteers, board members and the student volunteers from St. Coleman's were fantastic getting the area ready to go and making a great day for Spring Fling. This event easily could have been cancelled due to the park closure, but the hard work and creative ideas from all made for a great event! Huge thank you to Jaun Ignacio for being the Easter Bunny

We scaled down the event to accommodate the short notice change to the new location. And then, after all the planning, the weather gods decided our previous weekend schedule needed to be changed. We quickly rescheduled to the 30th and everyone adapted to the new schedule.

For the main event:

  • We had special individuals attend our event, Rep Chip LaMarca and Commissioner Lamar Fisher, and the EASTER BUNNY too!
  • We had a 3000 Easter Egg Hunt/with prizes for the participants.
  • Children 1-10 years old enjoyed this exciting event. We separated the age groups into separate hunting areas to give all a fair chance to find all the eggs they wanted.
  • This Event was Free to all.
  • The entire activity was kept well back from US 1 and was protected by Barricades provided by the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
  • Imperial Point Drive Entrance was closed to all traffic by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
  • Plenty of Parking was available at the shopping centers on North and South sides of Imperial Point Drive
