Make a Difference Day

We had a great group of Volunteers working in today’s citywide “Make a Difference Day”. Our goal was to work on 62nd Street (adopt a street) as well as updating our entryway including our Butterfly Gardens. The emphasis was on beautification, to make it look even better and giving it a fresh look! Please slow down and check it out as you drive through our main entrance off US1 and Imperial Point Drive.

We were fortunate to have members of the Neighborhood Services Department joining us in our beautification effort.  That extra manpower helped, as there was a lot to do and not that many volunteers.

My sincere thanks to all the Board Members and Neighbors who came out to work and make the Entrance nice and fresh. There was also City staff present to take pictures. We were told we had the Best Sign of All Fort Lauderdale.  In addition, we are part of the city’s Make a Difference summary video.

Main Entrance Volunteers were:
  • Betty Shelley
  • Vicki Rosenthal
  • George DeHeer
  • Drew Pickens
  • Terry Deloney, who picked up all the plants.
  • Caroline Blair, who came from Oakland Park to volunteer – Thanks a Million to Caroline!
  • Luisa Agathon – Manager of Neighbor Support
  • Diane Greenstein – Member of Neighbor Support
  • Jorg Hruschka – Chief Service Officer
  • John C. Herbst – City Commisioner, District 1
NE 62nd Street Adopt a Street Program Voluteers were:
  • John Watt and Jim Weber.

We also had a surprise visit and participation by our District City Commisioner, John C. Herbst.

THANK YOU TO ALL!

Betty Shelley, President, Imperial Point Civic Association
